2021 Kia Carnival Hi Limousine – Changes Explained In 5 Points

Kia Motors had introduced the fourth-generation Carnival MPV in Korea in August, 2020. The company has now released a ‘Hi Limousine’ variant of the MPV. The new variant is available in 7 and 9-seat configurations. It comes with design and interior changes along with some interesting additions.

The new Kia Carnival Hi Limousine has a high roof, which is basically the biggest update. The pictures suggest that the roof box is for additional cargo capacity; however, this box is added to offer taller roof. The taller roof ensures increased headroom. It offers 291mm more headroom than the regular model.

In terms of exterior changes, the new Kia Carnival Hi-Limousine variant has a front bumper guard, side steps and more rugged-looking skid plates. There is a large LED auxiliary brake light at the rear of the high roof. ‘Hi Limousine’ badge is added on the tailgate.

Interior Upgrades

The seven-seater model offers a lounge-like ambience with captain seats with leg rests. There is a 21.5-inch smart monitor in the rear passenger compartment. This large monitor comes with terrestrial HD-DMB TV signal, HDMI and USB ports, along with a smart device mirroring and sharing function. This variant also gets integrated air purifier, heated and cooled cup holders, side curtains, LED ambient mood lighting and reading lights for rear occupants.

Advanced Driver Assistance Features

The new Hi Limousine comes with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that offers features like Lane Keeping assist, blind-spot detection, forward collision avoidance assistance, etc. It also gets semi-autonomous Level 2 driving system along with Safe Exit Assist.

Powertrain

It is powered by a Smartstream 3.5-litre GDI V6 petrol engine that is capable of producing 290bhp of power and 355Nm of torque. This engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The new model is expected to be launched in select international markets in early next year. In Korean, the new model is priced from 60.66 million won ($54,450 or INR 40.58 lakh). The company is also planning to add 4-seater version of the Carnival MPV.
