Jeep India has confirmed that it will launch the updated Compass SUV on 27th January, 2021. The new 2021 Jeep Compass facelift, which was previewed earlier this month, has witnessed some noticeable changes inside and out. Engine setup, however, remains intact. One of the major upgrades come in the form of a new floating 10.1-inch touchscreen UConnect infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
The SUV’s updated model also received a full 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a new three-spoke steering wheel, double-stitched leather inserts on the dashboard, a 360 degree parking camera, 8-way adjustable electric seats, and newly-designed AC vents and HVAC controls placed below the info unit.
Most of the cosmetic changes have been made at the front end. The 2021 Jeep Compass facelift features a revised 7-slat grille, newly-designed headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, revised front bumper with a larger air dam and updated fog lamp assembly. As mentioned above, no changes have been made under the hood. The new Jeep Compass 2021 will continue to feature 2.0L diesel and 1.4L turbo petrol engines. While the oil burner makes a top power of 173bhp, the gasoline motor is good enough for 163bhp. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard across the model lineup.
The new Compass petrol and diesel continue to come with optional 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission respectively. The 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system with surface-specific drive modes is exclusively available with the diesel variant.
The American SUV manufacturer is also planning to launch a 7-seater version of the Compass and a new subcompact SUV in India. While the bigger SUV will arrive in the second half of 2021, the small one is reported to hit roads sometime next year.
