Isuzu Motors has launched the 2021 MU-X BS6 SUV in the Indian market. Not just MU-X, Isuzu has also launched the 2021 D-Max and D-Max V-Cross. First launched in 2017, the Isuzu MU-X was discontinued due to new BS6 emission norms. While the global markets get the new model, Isuzu Motor India has just updated engine option for the India-spec model.
The 2021 Isuzu MU-X is equipped with a BSVI compliant diesel engine along with negligible interior changes. The MU-X is available in two variants – 2WD AT and 4WD AT – priced at Rs 33.23 lakh and Rs 35.19 lakh respectively. The SUV will be positioned against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, MG Gloster and the Mahindra Alturas G4.
The 2021 Isuzu MU-X is powered by a 1.9-litre turbocharged diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 161bhp and a peak torque of 320Nm. A six-speed automatic gearbox is offered as standard, and the SUV is available with 4×2 as well as 4×4 drive train options. The 4×4 trim gets a ‘shift-on-the-fly’ select dial for a better off-road driving assistance.
The Isuzu MU-X design is identical to the previous model. It retains the thick chrome front grille, bi-LED projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, dual-tone bumper, and rounded fog lamps. Other design highlights include roof rails, 18-inch multi-spoke alloys, massive wheel arches and split headlamp setup.
Inside the cabin, the 2021 Isuzu MU-X gets analogue instrument console, automatic climate control, multi-functional steering wheel, push start/stop button, one-touch split & fold function for second & third row seats, soft leather upholstery, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, etc. For safety and security, the SUV gets ABS with EBD, traction control, six airbags, reverse parking sensors, etc.
