Korean automaker, Hyundai has introduced an all-new blacked-out ‘Night Edition’ of the Kona crossover in the United States. The Dark Edition is also expected to be introduced in other international markets. The Hyundai Kona Night Edition will be launched in the United States in September 2020.

The Hyundai Kona Night Edition mostly receives aesthetic updates. The all-black trim pack gives it a sporty look. The SUV comes with glossy black exterior and interior accents. It gets newly designed 18-inch semi-gloss black alloy wheels and black interior door handles. In fact, the chrome grille and chrome strips on the lower bumpers and the rear hatch/tailgate have also been removed.

Inside the cabin, the 2021 Hyundai Kona Night Edition receives aluminium sport pedals. Instead of the silver treatment on the door handles and other interior components, the SUV gets blackout treatment for sporty feel. Powering the Night Edition is the same 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that powers the regular model. Paired to a 7-speed DCT, the turbocharged petrol engine produces 175bhp of power. The new special edition is available in 3 paint schemes – Galactic Grey, Ultra Black and Chalk White.

Hyundai is only selling the electric version of the Kona SUV in India and has no plans to bring the regular model. The company is gearing up for the launch of the next-gen Hyundai i20 hatchback, which has recently been caught testing in India. The new model is rumoured to be introduced around September-October, before Diwali. It will rival the likes of the Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and the Tata Altroz.
