2021 Honda HR-V: What It Could Look Like

The next-gen Honda HR-V is reportedly to be unveiled in May 2021. It is expected that the 2021 Honda HR-V will come with an all-new Coupe-SUV like design. A new rendering from Digital Artist Kleber Silva shows the possible design language for the next-gen HR-V.

Few media reports suggest that the next HR-V could become boxier and rugged looking. The SUV will adopt Honda’s new design language with smooth exterior surfaces combined with sleek front faces. The new model will grow in size and will measure around 4.4 meters in length, thus leaving enough space to introduce one more SUV below HR-V.

The new rendering; however, follows the modern design touches with aggressive looking front face, thicker C-pillar, sloping roofline and aggressive creases and curves all around the body. The render has sculpted bonnet, more upright and flat front profile with hexagonal front grille with horizontal slats, sharp-looking V-shaped headlamps with LED daytime running lights and LED fog lamps. The lower bumper has wider air-inlet and rectangular fog lamp enclosure.

The rear design seems inspired by the 2020 Honda UR-V SUV, which is on sale in China. The rendering has roof-mounted spoiler with brake lights, chromed bar connecting LED tail-lamps, dual-tone bumper and silver skid plate. The vehicle also has blackened roof, usable roof-rails, black plastic cladding all-around the body and door-mounted ORVMs.

The next-gen Honda HR-V will rival the soon-to-be-launched Toyota Corolla Cross, and the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Renegade. The SUV is claimed to be in advanced stage of development. The project is being headed by the headquarters and it includes important changes in the form of design and mechanics. The 2021 Honda HR-V is rumoured to be based on the new Honda Global platform. It will also receive a new hybrid engine option, which includes a 1.5L petrol engine with two electric motors. This is the same engine that powers the new Fit Hybrid. In the hatchback, the initial movement up to 80kmph is made by the first electric motor that is called the propulsion engine. For greater power demand, the petrol engine starts to work to transmit the rotation to the second electric motor, which is called the generation engine.
