2020 Yamaha R3 Unveiled – Gets Darker Theme

Japanese two-wheeler maker, Yamaha has unveiled the 2020 YZF-R3 – an entry-level twin-cylinder motorcycle. The 2020 model comes with aesthetic changes, while mechanics of the bike remains the same. The company has introduced new colour scheme for the 2020 model.

The 2020 Yamaha R3 comes with 2 new paint schemes – icon blue and midnight black – bringing the new model closer to the 2020 Yamaha R1. The R3 with the Icon Blue colour scheme gets a new grey shade in the tail section, which replaces the black. The Midnight Black colour scheme is all-black with decals gaining dark shade. Instead of golden upside-down fork, the bike gets all-black fork.

The 2020 Yamaha R3 is powered by the same 321cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine. Paired to a 6-speed gearbox, the powertrain is capable of producing 42PS of power and 29.6Nm of torque. It comes with a ground clearance of 160mm, while the fuel tank capacity stands at 14-litres. Suspension mechanism of the bike comprise of upside down front forks and monocross shock at the rear.

For braking, the 2020 Yamaha R3 gets 298mm floating-mount disc brake up front and a 220mm disc at the rear. The motorcycle’s cast-aluminium wheels are shod with Dunlop Sportmax tyres. The India-spec model is likely to receive Metzelers.

It is expected that the new Yamaha R3 could launch in India in the next few months. The same colour options are likely to be offered on the India-spec model as well. The company could also improve the localisation levels to achieve competitive pricing. The old Yamaha R3 was available at a price tag of Rs 3.51 lakh.
