2020 Toyota Yaris (Vios Facelift) Unveiled: Honda City Rival

The 2020 Toyota Yaris facelift, also known as the Vios facelift has been launched in the Philippines. The mid-life facelift model is expected to be introduced in our market in 2021. The updated model has received subtle design changes and upgraded interior.

The new 2020 Toyota Yaris receive visual changes in the form of new glossy black front grille, 3-tier LED headlamps with daytime running lamps, and LED fog lamps. The sedan rides on 16-inch alloy wheels and large air-dam, which resembles the Lexus’ trademark spindle grille. The side and rear profile remains largely identical to the previous model. The sedan gets LED rear combination lamps.

2020 Yaris Touchscreen

The 2020 Toyota Yaris facelift comes with the smart entry feature and push start button. The CVT variant comes with paddle shifters and two driving modes – Eco and Sport. It also receives an updated touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

For passengers’ safety and security, the Vios facelift gets up to 7 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, vehicle stability control and hill start assist, and reverse camera. The sedan continues to offer electric sunroof, automatic climate control, roof-mounted AC vents, etc.  The Vios facelift is available with two petrol engines – a 1.3L and a 1.5L. While the former is good for 98bhp and 123Nm of torque, the 1.5L engine produces 106bhp and 140Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 7-step CVT (1.5L petrol only).

Toyota is likely to introduce the updated Yaris mid-sized sedan in India in the next year. The new model will take on the newly launched Honda City, Hyundai Verna facelift, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, VW Vento and the Skoda Rapid. The India-spec model is powered by the same BS6 compliant 1.5L petrol engine with 6-speed MT and CVT options.
