2020 Skoda Rapid Revealed With New Design and Interiors

The Czech car manufacturer has released the first official pictures of the 2020 Skoda Rapid sedan. The sedan’s updated model will be first launched in the Russian market, followed by other European countries. The same model will also come to India, but with minor cosmetic and feature changes. While the Europe-spec 2020 Skoda Rapid has been designed on the larger PQ35 platform, the Indian version will be based on the smaller PQ25 architecture. The sedan’s updated model carries a new design language as we have seen on the Scala hatchback.

 The front fascia has been adored by a new grille, revised bumper and newly-designed LED headlamps. No major changes have been made to its side profile. Interior seems inspired by the Scala including the dashboard design and a tablet-like infotainment system along with a fully digital instrument cluster. The company says that the 2020 Skoda Rapid will also come with the optional heated steering wheel with a two-spoke design.

Underneath the hood, the 2020 Skoda Rapid will house a naturally-aspirated 1.6L petrol engine producing 90bhp and 110Nm of torque. It can be had either with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed manual transmission. Read – New Skoda SUV To Challenge Kia Seltos

A 1.4L TSI engine will also be on offer with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. It will deliver power close to 125bhp. In India, the 2020 Skoda Rapid will come with a new BS6-compliant 1.0L TSI engine replacing the existing 1.2L TSI motor.
