The fourth generation Skoda Octavia sedan has been revealed via official pictures. The updated version has received comprehensive design changes and feature upgrades along with the plug-in-hybrid powertrain. The front fascia of the 2020 Skoda Octavia seems inspired by the Scala featuring newly-designed LED headlamps, more edgier grille and fog lamps resembling to the Superb facelift. The matrix LED technology comes as optional.
Save for the new 19-inch alloy wheels, the side profile looks exactly similar to the previous model. Compared to the previous generation, the 2020 Skoda Octavia is 19mm longer and 15mm wider measuring 4689mm in length and 1829mm in width. The 2020 Skoda Octavia has been designed on modified version of the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform. Some of its key features include a newly-designed 10.25-inch infotainment system (available on select trim), new dashboard and head-up display, a built-in eSIM, three-zone climate control, predictive pedestrian and cyclist protection, predictive cruise control and more.
Globally, the 2020 Skoda Octavia will be made available with a range of powertrains including plug-in hybrid (for the first time) and mild hybrid engines. The petrol options include a 110bhp, 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo, a 150hp 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo, a 190hp 2.0L TSI (non-hybrid) with AWD and a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The 2020 Skoda Octavia diesel comes with a 2.0L motor pushing three different power outputs – 115bh, 150bhp and 200bhp. The most powerful 200bhp variant is exclusively offered with DSG gearbox and AWD system. It can do 0 to 100kmph in just 7.1 seconds.
The plug-in hybrid petrol option version of the 2020 Skoda Octavia features a 1.4L engine and a 103hp electric motor delivering a combined power output of 203bhp. In India, the sedan’s new model could be offered with two petrol engines – a 150bhp, 1.5-L and 190bhp, 2.0-L turbo. Both manual and DSG gearboxes will be on offer.
