2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross India Launch On 28th July – Report

Maruti Suzuki India unveiled a range of new models at this year’s Auto Expo including the S-Cross petrol. According to a fresh media report, the carmaker will announce prices of the 2020 Maruti S-Cross petrol on coming 28th July. Ahead of its official launch, the sales training for the car has been commenced at Nexa dealerships across the nation. With the update, the carmaker will remove the existing entry-level Sigma trim and offer the new model lineup in three trims only – Delta, Zeta and Alpha.

The 2020 Maruti S-Cross has swapped out the 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine from the Vitara Brezza facelift that was launched early this year. The new BS6-compliant motor pushes out a claimed power of 105bhp and 138Nm of torque. The updated S-Cross will come with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox option. One must note that Suzuki’s SHVS mild-hybrid system will be exclusively offered with the S-Cross petrol automatic variants.

Besides the major mechanical update, the new S-Cross petrol will look more or less similar to the existing model. Though, the carmaker might make minor changes such as LED projector headlamps, automatic climate control, a telescopic steering wheel, 60:40 split seat and rear disc brakes. The top-end trim will continue to be offered with LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillamps, roof rails, auto headlamp leveling and automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, auto dimming inside rear view mirror and leather seat upholstery, steering and door armrest. The switch from diesel to petrol engine will result a minor price change. While the existing S-Cross diesel comes in the price range of Rs 8.81 lakh – Rs 11.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the updated petrol model is expected to be priced from Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2020 Maruti S-Cross petrol will continue to take on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the petrol-only Renault Duster and Nissan Kicks.
