Powering the 2020 Maruti S-Cross petrol will be a BS6-compliant 1.5L K15B engine replacing the old BS4 1.3L diesel motor. The naturally-aspirated gasoline unit returns a claimed power of 105bhp and a peak torque of 138Nm. Compared to its replacement, the new petrol engine will be slightly more powerful (around 15bhp). Transmission choices will include the same 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque convertor automatic units. The automatic gearbox will be available on higher trims only.

While the BS4 diesel manual variants get Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid system as standard, it will be reserved for the updated automatic variants of the crossover. The SHVS system has a large battery pack for energy storage produced from braking via a brake energy regeneration system. The stored energy is transmitted to the wheels via integrated starter generator that delivers it via a belt to the engine. The mild hybrid system improves fuel economy and performance (marginally) of the vehicle. Read – Maruti Suzuki’s First Electric Car Launch Details
