Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the 2020 model year of the S-Cross crossover will soon see a release in the country. Official price announcement will be made on 5th August, 2020. Prior to that, the carmaker has commenced its pre-bookings online and at dealership level. The 2020 Maruti S-Cross will be offered with a new 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired to a dual-battery SHVS mild hybrid system replacing the old BS4 1.3L diesel motor.
Borrowed from the new Vitara Brezza, the gasoline unit makes a top power of 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. While a 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard across the carline, a 4-speed automatic will be reserved for select trims. The 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol lineup will come in a total of 7 variants spread across four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Similar to the previous model, the updated one will come in a choice of 5 colours – Nexa Blue, Pearl Arctic White, Premium Silver, Granite Grey and Caffeine Brown.
The top-end Alpha trim will continue to be loaded with goodies such as LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillamps, auto headlamp leveling and automatic headlamps, silver roof rails, rain sensing wipers, leather seat upholstery, door armrest and steering wheel and auto dimming inside rear view mirror. In other news, Maruti Suzuki is planning to expand its Nexa model range in coming years. The company is evaluating a mid-size SUV and an all-new MPV for the Indian market. While the new compact SUV will be positioned against the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta,, the latter will be placed above the Ertiga. In terms of pricing, the new Maruti MPV will fall somewhere between the Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta.
