2020 Maruti S-Cross Petrol Launching Soon – Official

After introducing the Vitara Brezza petrol, Maruti Suzuki is now ready to launch the petrol-powered S-Cross crossover in India. In fact, the company’s NEXA website has released a teaser with tagline “Get Ready For the S-Cross Petrol – Arriving Soon”. This confirms that the Maruti S-Cross Petrol is all set to hit showrooms in the next few days.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross diesel version has already been discontinued. The updated model will be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which also powers the Ciaz, Ertiga, XL6 and the newly launched Vitara Brezza. This engine will be benefitted with Suzuki’s dual-battery system – mild-hybrid technology. While powering the Brezza, this engine produces 103bhp of power at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 138Nm at 4,400rpm. Transmission choices are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor.

Maruti Suzuki had showcased the BS6 S-Cross petrol at the 2020 Auto Expo. Not just new petrol engine, the S-Cross will also receive some changes in the form of new features. It will be equipped with a new SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The crossover also gets redesigned ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights and a sportier set of alloy wheels.

Maruti Suzuki had launched the facelift version of the S-Cross in 2017. The SUV comes equipped with features like push start and stop button, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, ORVMs with integrated blinkers, LED tail-lamps, automatic air-conditioning, etc. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, speed alert, seat belt reminder, ISOFIX child seat mounts and rear parking sensors will come as standard. It also gets keyless entry and rear parking camera.

The company is also readying the Swift facelift, which is expected to be launched in the next few months. The new model will receive cosmetic design changes, which will be similar to that of the Dzire facelift. The hatchback will also receive a new 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine that produces 90bhp of power, around 7bhp more powerful than the regular 1.2L K-Series petrol engine.
