The new-generation Mahindra Thar is surely one of the most anticipated launches of the next year. The SUV’s all-new model will make its first public appearance at the 2020 Auto Expo in February. According to a fresh media report, the 2020 Mahindra Thar will be made available with a petrol engine and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox option.
While the official details are yet to be revealed, the new Thar is likely to come with a 2.2L petrol engine sourced from the Mahindra XUV500. The new gasoline unit will return power close to 140bhp and torque around 320Nm.
The 2020 Mahindra Thar will also receive a new BS6-compliant 140bhp, 2.2L diesel engine replacing the existing 2.5L CRDe oil burner. That means, the new model will be around 35bhp more powerful than its current one. A 6-speed manual transmission will be standard across the model lineup. Read – Mahindra To Launch 6 New SUV In 2020
Minor dimensional changes will also be made to the 2020 Mahindra Thar. Based on the new platform, the SUV will offer better structure integrity. For safety provision, it will have dual airbags, seat belt reminders, rear parking sensors and ABS with EBD.
With the generation change, the Mahindra Thar will also witness some significant cosmetic changes and feature upgrades. It will also be made available with two seating configurations – 5-seats and 6-seats. There will be bucket seats up front and front facing rear seats along with a factory-fitted hardtop.
