Reports suggest that the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio could be based on a new platform that will also underpin the new-generation Thar. The company will also improve its body control and make it more rigid for the crash test.

With the generation change, the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio might get a petrol engine. The existing 2.0L diesel engine will also be upgraded to meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. It will deliver power worth 158bhp, thus making it 20bhp more powerful than the existing diesel motor that delivers 138bhp. The SUV lineup will come with a manual gearbox along with an automatic transmission coupled to AWD (all-wheel-drive) system.
