Mahindra Scorpio, the highly-popular 7-seater SUV from the home-grown carmaker, is all set to enter into its new generation next year. The SUV’s all-new model could have its world premiere at the 2020 Auto Expo. The biennial event is scheduled to happen from 7th to 12th February in Greater Noida. The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio is likely to get a complete overhaul along with new BS6-compliant powertrains.
Most of the aesthetic changes are likely to be made on the front fascia. The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio will feature a newly-designed radiator grille with vertical slates, new headlamps, revised front bumper and a more inclined windscreen.
Other design highlights might include more pronounced wheel arches, blacked out pillars, bolder shoulder creases and extended rear overhang. Interior will also be revised with a pack of new comfort and connectivity features.
The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio might get a larger touchscreen infotainment system with latest connectivity features along with a multi-function steering wheel and a newly-designed dashboard. It might borrow some of its features from the Mahindra Marazzo MPV. Material quality might also be classed up.
Reports suggest that the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio could be based on a new platform that will also underpin the new-generation Thar. The company will also improve its body control and make it more rigid for the crash test.
With the generation change, the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio might get a petrol engine. The existing 2.0L diesel engine will also be upgraded to meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. It will deliver power worth 158bhp, thus making it 20bhp more powerful than the existing diesel motor that delivers 138bhp. The SUV lineup will come with a manual gearbox along with an automatic transmission coupled to AWD (all-wheel-drive) system.
