In March 2018, Mahindra Automotive North America (MANA) had introduced the Roxor off-road vehicle in the United States. Based on the Thar SUV, the off-roader has caused a legal spat between Jeep and Mahindra due to its design. Besides all the allegations, the carmaker has rolled out the 2020 model year of the off-road vehicle. The 2020 Mahindra Roxor comes with minor design changes. 1. Variants & Prices
Prices of the 2020 Mahindra Roxor start from $15,999 (around 11.4 lakh) for the 5-speed manual variant and go all the way up to $16,999 (around Rs 12.1 lakh) for the 6-speed manual version.
2. Improved Styling
Major aesthetic change comes in the form of a newly-designed grille inspired by the Land Cruiser FJ Series from the 1970s. The disputed Jeep-like seven-slat design grille has been removed. The ‘racetrack’ like metal strip around the headlamps enhances its retro appearance. The off-road vehicle now runs on the standard 16-inch wheels. 3. Better Off-road Capabilities
Aiming to improve its crawling capability, the carmaker has equipped the 2020 Mahindra Roxor with a 2-speed manual transfer case and a fully floating front axle with improvised 5.38:1 gearing. Its braking mechanism includes an 11-inch disc brake and an 11-inch drum brake at the front and rear axle respectively. The leaf springs suspension further enhances its performance.
4. Interior
Similar to the old model, the 2020 Mahindra Roxor features a steel dashboard with a simple gauge cluster. There are central console integrated cup holders. 5. Same Powertrain
No changes have been under the hood. The 2020 Mahindra Roxor uses the same 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine putting out a peak power of 62bhp. In the U.S market, the off-road vehicle is offered in LHD (left hand drive) configuration. It comes with a manual gearbox with the conventional manual 4X4 drivetrain system. The Roxor is capable to attain a top speed of 88kmph.
