2020 Mahindra Roxor Leaked; Gets New Front Design

The all-new 2020 Mahindra Roxor has been leaked ahead of its market launch in the United States. The Roxor was first launched in the US in May 2018; however, the off-roader was discontinued due to its original Jeep-like design and multiple lawsuits by FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles). With updated model, Mahindra will introduce an all-new design.

The company has removed the Jeep-like design; however, the new Roxor retains the retro-styling theme. The off-roader has wider nose that allows more space between the headlamps. It gets a new twin-horizontal slat grille with honeycomb inserts finished in black. The Roxor has wider bonnet while the grille tapers down to the front bumper to offer a view of the exposed suspension and tyres. The Roxor has round headlamps with LED elements.

The Roxor off-roader falls under the ‘side-by-side’ category in the North American market. It is produced at Auburn Hills, Michigan by Mahindra Automotive North America (MANA), which is Mahindra’s subsidiary in the US. It is designed and developed on the ladder-frame-chassis, which underpins the previous-gen Mahindra Thar.

Technical details about the new Mahindra Roxor are yet to be announced, but it is likely to get the same 64bhp, 2.5-litre diesel. This is the same engine that also powers the first-gen Thar in India. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The discontinued Roxor was equipped with 2-speed transfer case, leaf-spring suspension all around and disc brakes at the front.
