The 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport has finally arrived in the Indian market. The SUV comes in two variants – S and R-Dynamic SE – priced at Rs 57.06 lakh and Rs 60.89 lakh (all, ex-showroom) respectively. It continues to take on the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and Audi Q5. Here’re the top 5 changes made to the new Discovery Sport. 1. All-New Platform

The new Discovery Sport has been designed on the Premium Transverse Architecture (PRA) that also underpins the Range Rover Evoque. The new chassis has rigidly-mounted sub-frames and is up to 13% stiffer than the old one. It also improves NVH levels of the SUV. The new architecture support ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) and electric powertrains.

2. BS6 Powertrain

The 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport comes with an updated range of 2.0L petrol and diesel Ingenium engines. Both motors now meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 9-speed automatic gearbox, coupled with AWD (all-wheel-drive) system. The terrain response is now standard on new Discovery Sport. It offers the best-in-class 600mm water wading depth.

3. Tweaked Styling

Minimal design changes have been made to the new Discovery Sport. Upfront, the SUV features redesigned headlamps with LED DRLs and a newly-designed grille. The clamshell bonnet, roofline and rising belt-line looks more or less similar to the previous model. The rear bumper and taillamps have also been revised.

4. More Features

While the interior layout remains unchanged, the 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport gets a 10-inch Touch Pro infotainment system as standard. It supports Andriod Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SUV receives newly-designed dashboard, centre console and a three-spoke multi function steering wheel. It also gets a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster along with features such as 4G WiFi hotspot, wireless charging, 12V charging sockets on each row, USB ports, a powered liftgate, massaging front seats and an activity key. There are touch pads for the steering mounted controls.

All variants of the new Discovery Sport come equipped with several driver assistance systems include lane keep assist, driver condition monitor, adaptive cruise control with steering assist and autonomous emergency braking system.
