2020 Kia K5 Fastback Sedan Revealed
The South Korean carmaker today revealed the 2020 Kia K5 fastback sedan via official pictures. The sedan claims to feature a “striking new design with a driver-focused interior, cutting-edge technologies, and all-new powertrain options”. The 2020 Kia K5 will come with multiple Smartstream petrol engines and new transmissions. For the North American market, the fastback sedan will be made available with a new 180PS, 1.6L TGDi and a high-performance 290PS, 2.5L T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine options. The 1.6L gasoline motor is boosted with Kia’s new Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) technology.
The performance-oriented 2.5L petrol unit can do 0 to 100kmph in around 6.6 seconds. It features Kia’s new-generation integrated thermal management system that helps maintaining ideal operating temperatures. Other powertrain options will include a 152PS, 2.0L MPI, a 160PS, 2.0L with CVVL technology and a 194PS, 2.5L GDi, depending on the market. Read – Kia Carnival To Get 3 Seating Options
The hybrid powertrain options will also be carried over from the previous generation. All engines will be paired with 6 or 8-speed automatic transmissions. Kia’s new 8-speed wet double-clutch transmission (8DCT) will be exclusively offered with the 2.5L T-GDi engines. The Kia K5 fastback hatchback will come with drive mode select system offering Eco, Sport, Smart, Comfort and Custom modes.
Some of its key features include Kia’s ‘tiger nose’, LED headlamps a ‘heart beat’ DRLs, a wider air intake, fastback roofline, multiple machine-cut aluminum alloy wheel designs and paint options, Kia’s latest infotainment systems, an optional 10.25-inch touchscreen sits alongside Kia’s new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system, an 8.0-inch head-up display and many more. The all-new Kia K5 fastback sedan will be launched in global markets during the first half of 2020. As of now, there is no clarity whether it will come to India or not. The company is planning to foray into the subcompact SUV space with the Kia QYi (codenamed) sometime next year.
