Hyundai had unveiled the 2020 Verna facelift at the 2019 Chengdu Motor Show in China last month. The updated model will also mark its way to our market in early 2020. The new Verna has received significant changes inside and out. Adding to it, the mid-sized sedan gets major updates under the hood as well. Here are top 5 major changes on offer in the 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift –

– New Diesel Engine and gearbox options

The 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift will receive a new 1.5-litre diesel engine, which will replace the current 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre diesel powertrains. The same engine will also power the next generation Creta, i20 and the Venue compact SUV, but in different states of tunes. For Verna, this engine will produce 115bhp and 250Nm of torque that is 13bhp and 10Nm less than the current 1.6-litre engine. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

– Bigger Touchscreen with Bluelink

The new sedan will come equipped with a larger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of the current 7.0-inch unit. The infotainment system will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Adding to it, the sedan will be benefitted with Hyundai Bluelink connected car application. The same system is currently available in the Venue and the Elantra sedan.

– Exterior Changes

The new Hyundai Verna receives significant exterior changes. It gets a wider Hyundai’s ‘cascading grille’, newly styled headlamps and a revised front bumper. The newly designed LED headlamp has 3 section – projection headlamp, the parking lamp and the turn indicator – with chrome outlines separating them. At the back, the sedan gets all-new boot and tail-lamp design. There is a thin LED strip that runs across the boot, while the license plate is also moved lower on the boot. The bumper has rectangular, vertically stacked reflectors and a dual-tone faux-diffuser.

– All-digital instrument console

The next-generation Hyundai Verna will be equipped with an all-digital instrument console, which will soon be offered as standard on all Hyundai cars in India. The next-gen Hyundai i20 and Creta will also receive the digital instrument cluster.

– New Petrol Engine with mild-hybrid system

The India-spec Hyundai Verna facelift will be powered by a new 1.5-litre petrol engine, which will produce 115bhp of power and 144Nm of torque. Compared to the current Verna’s 1.6-litre petrol engine, the new 1.5-litre engine produces 8bhp and 7Nm less. Adding to it, the new engine will be coupled to a 48V hybrid system. A six-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard, while a CVT automatic gearbox could be offered as optional.
