2020 Hyundai i20 Engine

The South Korean carmaker recently unveiled the new-generation Hyundai i20 that’s slated to make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2020. The premium hatchback will receive comprehensive aesthetic and feature upgrades. Though, the major change will come in the form of the mild hybrid powertrain. The 2020 Hyundai i20 with 48V mild hybrid motor will be first made available in the European market.

While there is no official word, a fresh media report says that the new i20 mild hybrid variant might also come to India. If it arrives in our market, there is a possibility that the carmaker might introduce the mild hybrid technology to its other model lineup including the Hyundai Venue subcompact SUV.

2020 Hyundai i20 Features

Similar to the new i20, the Hyundai Venue mild hybrid variant might get 1.0L GDi, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine coupled to a 48V mild hybrid system. The gasoline unit is tuned for generating two power outputs – 99bhp and 118bhp. The carmaker claims that the mild hybrid technology not only improves fuel economy, but reduces carbon emissions by 3-4% as well. Read – Big Discount On BS4 Hyundai Creta; New Creta Coming in March

The Hyundai Venue mild hybrid model might also come with the automatic idle engine start-stop system that automatically shuts off and restarts the engine when the vehicle is at rest. This reduces fuel consumption and eliminates idle emissions. The idle engine auto start-stop system is also come as standard feature in the Maruti Suzuki Baleno petrol SHVS and Tata Altroz petrol variants.

BS6 Hyundai Venue Diesel

Recently, the carmaker introduced the Seltos’ 1.5L diesel engine on the Hyundai Venue lineup. The new BS6-compliant oil burner has replaced the old 1.4L CRDi diesel engine. Ahead of the BS6 emission norms deadline (1st April, 2020), Hyundai has upgraded the Venue’s 1.0L and 1.2L petrol engines, thus making them around Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 pricier than their BS4 versions.
