It is expected that the next-generation Hyundai Elite i20 will make debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.

The next-gen Hyundai Elite i20 hatchback will be launched in the country in 2020. The hatchback was recently caught testing in India. A new prototype of the next i20 has been caught testing in Europe, which reveals new details about the hatch. The spotted car is the European-spec model, which could be slightly different from the India-spec model. Though, the overall profile and looks would remain the same.

The spotted model also has sunroof, which suggest that India-spec Hyundai i20 could also receive this feature. The spy images reveal that the car has grown in size and looks wider than the outgoing model. The front design is sharper, featuring signature hexagonal grille that provides it an imposing look. The vehicle gets newly styled headlamps with angular design, while the bumper has been re-designed with new fog lamp housing and sleeker air intake.

The rear profile is heavily camouflaged and it is difficult to find out what has changed. However, it is visible that that the 2020 Hyundai i20 gets LED brake lights. The wing mirrors are completely new and are sleeker than the current car. While the overall profile is same, it gets more aggressive stance and imposing looks. The spotted model was equipped with rims similar to that of the test mule spied in our country. Also See – 2020 Hyundai i20 – top 5 big changes on offer

The cabin design of the car will also be revised. We believe that the interior of the 2020 Hyundai i20 will be shared with the new Venue compact SUV. It will receive a large touchscreen infotainment system with modern day connectivity features. Adding to it, the hatchback will be benefitted with Hyundai’s new Blue Link connectivity solution. Other changes likely to include a new dashboard, new instrument console, and new steering wheel.

It is expected that the 2020 Hyundai Elite i20 could use the new Venue’s platform. The hatchback will receive the BS6 compliant 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines. Adding to it, the i20 could also get the new 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that recently debuted in the Venue. This engine also powers the International-spec i20 and is available in 2 states of tunes – 100bhp/172Nm and 118bhp/172Nm. The India-spec model could get the 100bhp version of the 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine.

It is expected that the next-generation Hyundai Elite i20 will make debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. The hatchback could be launched before the BS6 emission norms kick in. It will challenge the likes of Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz and the Tata Altroz.
