2020 Hyundai Creta officially unveiled – Pictures and Details
The 2020 Hyundai Creta has made its global debut at the Shanghai Auto Show.
We informed you earlier that Hyundai will launch the next-generation Creta SUV in 2020. For people not in the know, Hyundai is selling the Creta as the ix25 SUV in the Chinese market. Before India, the Korean brand will introduce the next-generation Creta in China. The 2020 Hyundai Creta has made its global debut at the Shanghai Auto Show. The vehicle showcased is a 5-seater model; however, the India-spec model is reportedly to be offered in 5 and 7-seat options.
The Hyundai Creta aka ix25 was first introduced in China in 2014. In India, the company had launched the Creta SUV in 2015. The new model is longer and wider than the outgoing model. In terms of exterior styling, the new model gets Hyundai’s new Hexagonal cascading grille with lots of chrome bits. The grille is finished in piano black, which is surrounded by chrome with Hyundai badge positioned at the centre.
The new Hyundai Creta also gets the brand’s new two-tier headlamp setup with headlight unit positioned lower on the bumper with daytime running lights. The headlamp design is inspired by the new Hyundai Kona SUV. It gets the sculpted and longer bonnet. The lower bumper gets silver treatment with narrower and wider air-dam and squarish fog lamp housing. The rear has been completely re-designed with much sharper looks than the current flatter profile. Tail-light design is also new and has the similar shape as the headlamp. There is a LED stop light and piano black strip that joins the tail-lights to form a single unit. The 2020 Hyundai Creta showcased at the event was wrapped in shiny red colour with contrasting black roof. The black finish can be seen on the A pillar that extends to the roof spoiler. B and C-pillar comes with matt black finish, while the thick white shade can be seen running alongside the roof and the C-pillar.
The cabin of the Hyundai Creta 2020 model has also been revised. It comes with dual-tone black and beige colour scheme with contrasting red stitching. The piano black finish and chrome embellishment can be seen on the door and other parts of the cabin. The dashboard design has also been revised, featuring a free-standing touchscreen infotainment unit in the centre. The touchscreen unit design resembles the one offered in the Tesla models. The steering wheel, dashboard and door panels are wrapped in leather. Use of soft-touch materials also enhances the overall premium character of the SUV.
The 2020 Hyundai Creta is expected to receive the new 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. These engines are likely to first debut in the Kia SP2i compact SUV. The new powertrains will be compliant with BSVI emission norms. It is expected that the next-gen Hyundai Creta will be expensive than the outgoing model.
