2020 Hyundai Creta: Closer Images Reveal New Details
Launched in 2015, the Hyundai Creta has been the best-selling premium compact SUV in the country. The company is now readying the next-gen Creta, which is scheduled to be launched in early 2020. It is expected to make public debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. In the Chinese market, the Creta is called the Hyundai ix25. The second-gen Hyundai ix25 has started reaching the dealerships in China. A new set of images of the new model have hit the internet, revealing more details.
The second-gen Hyundai ix25 is based on the modified version of the existing platform, which also underpins the Kia Seltos. In terms of styling, the new model gets the brand’s new design language that we have already seen on the Palisade and the Venue compact SUV. The new ix25 gets rounded profile rather than the upright styling in the outgoing model. Upfront is a new “cascading grille” and split headlamp setup with slim LED DRLs on top and manin headlamp unit lower on the bumper. The headlamp unit is divided in 3 sections by chrome lining and features an L-shaped LED light for turn indicator.
The grille has chrome surrounding, while the bumper has brushed-aluminium finished faux skid plate. The side profile has squarish wheel arches and newly styled multi-spoke alloys. The India-spec model will come with less flashy front design and differently styled alloys. At the back, the SUV gets new LED tail-lamps and bumper. The 2020 Hyundai Creta is bigger than the current model. In terms of proportions, the new model is 4,300mm long, 1,790mm wide and 1.622mm taller, makig it 30mm longer, 10mm wider and 8mm shorter than the outgoing model.
The Chinese-spec Hyundai ix25 is available in multiple interior trims – one inspired by Tesla and one similar to that of the Kia Seltos. The new images show that the SUV gets a large vertically-stacked 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with minimum buttons on the central console.
Features like Climate control system can be controlled by touchscreen. The SUV is fitted with high-end features like cruise control, ventilated front seats, electric parking brake, tyre pressure monitoring and push-button start.
The 2020 Hyundai Creta will be offered with 3 BS6 compliant engines – a 115bhp, 1.5-litre petrol, a 115bhp, 1.5-litre diesel and a 140bhp, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol. Hyundai could also opt for the 1.0-litre turbocharged unit that also powers the Venue. This engine produces 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. A mild-hybrid version of the SUV could also be launched in our market. All the engines will come with options of manual and automatic gearbox.
