The new-generation Honda City is ready to make world debut next month in Thailand. In India, the sedan’s all-new model will make its first public appearance at the 2020 Auto Expo in February, followed by its launch. While the official launch of the 2020 Honda City is a few months away, its engine details have been revealed.

Globally, the 2020 Honda City will be made available with three engine options – a new 1.0L turbocharged petrol, a 1.5L petrol with mild hybrid technology and a 1.5L diesel. Boosted with Borg Warner turbo charger, the new gasoline motor will deliver power close to 120bhp.

Details of the 1.5L petrol engine coupled with the company’s new compact i-MMD mild hybrid technology are yet to be revealed. Honda’s mild hybrid powertrain will debut in the new Jazz hatchback that’s scheduled to be unveiled next month in Tokyo.

The 1.5L diesel engine could be carried over from the current model. This BS4-compliant oil burner pushes out a peak power of 100bhp against 200Nm of torque. The 2020 Honda City will receive the BS6-ready version of the same powertrain. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox.
