The 2020 Honda City will be unveiled in India at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo

Japanese automaker, Honda has started testing the next-generation City sedan in foreign soil. The new model is expected to make debut in Thailand in the second half of 2019, most probably in October. In India, the fifth-generation Honda City will make its debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. A new rendering from IAB digital artist Shoeb Kalania suggests the possible design of the upcoming City sedan.

The current generation City was first introduced in 2013 and is already 6 years old. The sedan needed a major makeover to regain the pole position in the mid-sized sedan segment. The spy images reveal that the overall styling of the new model will be heavily inspired by the bigger Honda sedans including Accord and Insight. In fact, the rendering shows that the car has all-new styling and also grows in size.

The front fascia has been completely revised with more squarish profile. It features a new wider wraparound headlamps, re-designed bumper and larger grille with a thick chrome bar on top. There is a strong line that extends from the front fender to the tail-lamps. At the back, the sedan is likely to get the new tail-lamps, new bumper and tailgate.

The next-generation Honda City will have better quality and feature-loaded cabin. The vehicle will also receive a newly developed touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with other modern connectivity features.

The 2020 Honda City sedan will be offered with BS6 compliant 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and i-DTEC diesel engine. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and an optional CVT automatic. The company will also introduce a mild-hybrid version of the sedan. It will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna.
