2020 Honda City Launch on 15th July – Price Expectations

The fifth-generation Honda City is certainly one of the much-awaited launches of this year. The carmaker has confirmed that the new City prices will be announced on coming 15th July. Ahead of its official launch, the variant-wise features of the sedan have been leaked on the web.

Interestingly, the fourth-generation City will continue to be sold alongside the new 2020 Honda City. The current model lineup is spread across 4 trims, which are priced between Rs 9.91 lakh to Rs 14.31 lakh (ex-showroom).

2020 Honda City Petrol

With the generation change, the carmaker will drop the existing entry-level S trim. The new model will be offered in 3 trims only, namely, V, VX and ZX. Prices of the fifth-generation City are likely to start from 11 lakh and its top-spec model might cost around Rs 15-16 lakh (ex-showroom). Besides its predecessor, the new City will face challenge from the cars like newly-launched Hyundai Verna facelift, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Toyota Yaris. The 2020 Honda City has witnessed comprehensive cosmetic changes and feature upgrades along with a new petrol engine. The new-generation model features a new twin-cam 1.5L petrol motor that’s good enough for 121bhp and 145Nm of torque.

The diesel version will source its power from the BS6-complint version of the 1.5L unit delivering a claimed power of 100bhp and 200Nm of torque. While the petrol variants will be made available with a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic (with paddleshifters) gearbox option, the diesel models will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox only. Honda’s popular mid-size sedan has also grown up in terms of size. The 2020 City is a substantial 113mm longer and 53mm wider than the fourth generation model. Therefore, its front and rear overhangs appear more pronounced.

2020 Honda City Diesel

Inside, the new model features a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Weblink connectivity. It also gets Honda Connect with Telematics Control unit that offers over 32 features. The new City is India’s first car to come with Alexa support.
