2020 Honda City Launch Confirmed in July – Images Released

Scheduled to be launched in July 2020, the 5th generation Honda City sedan will be the longest and most spacious in its segment.

Japanese automaker, Honda has officially announced that the much-awaited new-gen City sedan will be launched in the Indian market in July 2020. The 2020 Honda City is based on the new front-wheel-drive platform, which is claimed to be lighter and stronger. The company has also released the official images, exterior and interior features, and engine specifications of the new City.

New Honda City Interior

The 5th generation Honda City will be offered in 2 engine options – a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol with VVT and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. The petrol version is capable of producing 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed CVT with paddle shifters.

The diesel engine is the same that powers the previous City. It is capable of producing 99bhp and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.

New Honda City Headlamp

While the manual City petrol returns an ARAI certified fuel economy of 17.4kmpl, the CVT version delivers an impressive 18.4kmpl. The diesel City is claimed to offer a fuel economy of 24.1kmpl. The fuel efficiency of diesel model has dropped significantly, as the previous City diesel was claimed to offer 26.95kmpl.

In terms of proportions, the new Honda City is 4,549mm in length, 1,748mm in width and 1,489mm in height and wheelbase of 2,600mm. The new model is around 109mm longer and 53mm wider; however, the height has been reduced by 6mm.

New Honda City Alexa Remote

The new-gen Honda City is India’s first connected car with Alexa remote capability. The sedan gets the next-gen Honda Connect with Telematics Control Unit (TCU) that offer over 32 connected car features such as vehicle position, door lock status from a remote location, auto crash notification & emergency assistance, stolen vehicle tracking, security alert, Geo fencing and others.

In terms of safety and security, the new City gets 6 airbags, vehicle stability assist with agile handling assist, hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring system, Honda LaneWatch camera, ABS with EBD and brake assist, reverse camera, and others.

New Honda City Connected Car

The sedan gets a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Weblink. Other features include 7-inch HD full color TFT screen for instrumentation, one-touch electric sunroof, automatic headlight control, all 4 power windows with Auto Up/Down with pinch guard, engine start-stop button, etc.
