The soon-to-be-launched 2020 Honda City facelift has achieved a 5-star rating in the recently conducted ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) crash test. The mid-size sedan has scored 44.83 points for the adult occupant protection, 22.82 points for child occupant protection and 18.89 points for safety assist technologies.

The new City receives 86.54 points out of 100 points in the frontal offset impact and side impact tests. The tested model comes equipped with six airbags, vehicle stability assist (VSA), anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), emergency stop signal, hill start assist and a multi-view reverse camera. The sedan’s G-CON (G-Force control body structure) further enhances its safety quotient. One must note that the tested model was Thailand-spec version.

In terms of design, the India-spec 2020 Honda City facelift will be slightly different than the Thailand-spec model. The sedan will come with full LED lighting, a sunroof and 16-inch alloy wheels. Though, these design bits could be exclusively offered on the top-end trim. The new City will be packed with some class-leading features including tyre pressure monitoring system and Amazon’s Alex enabled telematics. Read – 2020 Honda Amaze Facelift In The Works

The facelifed model will also be bigger in size. Its overall length, width and height will stand at 4549mm, 1748mm and 1489mm respectively. While the wheelbase remains unchanged (2600mm), the weight will be increased by around 65kgs.

In India, the 2020 Honda City facelift will be offered in three trims with the BS6-compliant 1.5L i-VTEC petrol and 1.5L diesel engine options. Compared to its BS4 version, the updated gasoline motor is 2bhp more powerful. It delivers a peak power of 119bhp at 6600rpm and 145Nm at 4600rpm. The oil burner, which is sourced from the Amaze, is good enough for 100bhp. Both manual (5-speed) and automatic (CVT) gearboxes will be on offer.
