The fifth-generation Honda City is all set to make its world debut next month in Thailand. Ahead of it, the sedan’s new model has been spotted in its production-ready avatar.
The 2020 Honda City will first go on sale in Thailand, followed by the other ASEAN markets. The camouflaged test mule shows the sleeker taillamps, which are mounted slightly lower than the existing model.
The 2020 Honda City will also get the newly-designed rear bumper and boot lid. At the front end, the sedan will receive LED headlamps, a bolder mesh radiator grille with a wide chrome bar and a swooping bonnet. The side profile will be adorned by multi-spoke alloys and a coupe-ish roofline. Read – Honda City Hatchback In The Works?
Compared to the current generation, the new 2020 Honda City will be longer and wider ensuring more cabin space (especially for the rear seat occupants). Interior will also witness comprehensive changes including a newly-designed dashboard and more comfortable seats.
There will be headrests for all three occupants of the rear seat. Other changes might include a larger touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. It will continue to offer the rear AC vents, automatic climate control, sunroof and cruise control.
Honda will introduce the 2020 City with BS6-ready engines along with a diesel-CVT combination. The petrol variants of the sedan will get the 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbocharged i-VTEC engine pushing out power around 120bhp.
The diesel models will derive power from a BS6-compliant 1.5L motor. This time around, the Honda City might also get a 1.5L, 4-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine with the brand’s i-MMD mild hybrid technology.
