Honda has already started working on the next-generation City sedan. In fact, the sedan is reportedly in final stages of development and could make Thailand debut in October this year. In India, the new City sedan will be unveiled at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. The sedan could be launched in March 2020. Here are five big changes expected in the upcoming 2020 Honda City sedan

– Hybrid Powertrain

The Japanese automaker has officially confirmed that the next-gen City sedan will come with a fuel efficient hybrid powertrain. The Hybrid model is likely to receive a 1.5-litre petrol engine coupled with 2 electric motors. – BS6 Compliant Petrol & Diesel

Coming April 2020, all the cars on sale in India will need to meet the stringent BS6 emission norms. Most of the automakers are uncertain about the diesel cars; however, Honda has confirmed that it will continue to sell diesel cars post BS6 norms. It will be powered by the BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines.

– Bigger and Spacious

Honda will surely work on the quality aspect of the City sedan. It is likely to offer better quality plastic and offers improved fit and finish. The new City diesel will also offer improved NVH levels. It will receive additional sound deadening materials.

Besides offering improved legroom and headroom space, the next-gen Honda City will offer several high-end features. – Design Inspiration from Accord & Insight sedan

The next-gen Honda City will also with an all-new design inspired by Honda’s new-gen design philosophy from bigger sedans. It is expected that the design of the sedan will be heavily inspired with the Honda Insight and Accord sedans. The front fascia of the sedan will feature the signature look similar to the Insight sedan, though Honda will make subtle changes to keep things fresh. Design highlights are likely to include a massive chromed grille, projector headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, sculpted bonnet, fastback-like roofline and strong creases all around the body. The front could get more rectangular profile, similar to that of the new Amaze and Accord.
