2019 Volkswagen Touareg Makes Global Debut In Beijing

2019 Volkswagen Touareg is built on the brand’s MLB Evo platform, which also underpins the Lamborghini Urus.

Commemorating its 30 years in the Chinese market, Volkswagen has revealed the third-generation of its flagship model – the Touareg. Touted as a ‘Smart SUV’, the new 2019 Volkswagen Touareg is claimed to a “pioneering fusion of assistance, comfort, lighting and infotainment systems”. The SUV has been designed on the brand’s MLB Evo platform, which is already used in the recently-launched Lamborghini Urus SUV, Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7.

In the European market, the 2019 Volkswagen Touareg will be offered with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine tuned for two power outputs – 228bhp and 282bhp. The Chinese-spec model, on the other hand, will also get a plug-in hybrid powertrain delivering a combined power output of 362bhp. The hybrid version will also be introduced in the European market, but at a later stage. The German carmaker will also offer a V6 petrol and a 4.0-litre V8 turbocharged diesel engine on the range-topping variant. The former delivers power worth 335bhp and the latter one offers 416bhp.

Visually, the 2019 Volkswagen Touareg looks more mature and refreshing than the predecessor. Upfront, the SUV features new LED headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, muscular bumper and air intakes with black accent. 2019 Volkswagen Touareg India Launch

With respect to dimensions, the 2019 Volkswagen Touareg has witnessed increase in length and width. Now, the SUV measures 4,878mm long and 1,984mm wide. Though, its height has been trimmed down by 7mm, measuring 1,702mm. The SUV’s new model offers a slightly more spacious cabin. Interior has also been revised with new top-notch quality interior with dual tone upholstery. The list of features includes a fully-digital 12-inch instrument cluster, larger 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, navigation, in-car entertainment and multiple functions, all-wheel steering,  a 730-watt, 14-speaker Dynaudio system, front seats with massaging function, a night vision system for animal detection, four-corner air suspension with electronic damping control, four-zone air conditioning and so on.
