Volkswagen Polo Plus

The VW Polo Plus is based on the new-gen Polo hatchback, which is currently on sale in the international market.

SAIC Volkswagen has unveiled a new Polo Plus variant at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show. This variant is based on the new-gen Polo hatchback, which is currently on sale in the international market. The new model is 11mm narrower and 3mm shorter than the global spec model, which was introduced in 2017.

The Volkswagen Polo Plus measures 4,053mm in length, 1,740mm in width and 1,449mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,564mm. This model is still longer than the Polo that is on sale in India and China. This new model will only be launched in the Chinese market. It is highly unlikely to arrive in India as the current-gen Polo will receive a makeover in India. The VW Polo Plus comes with sportier body kit, featuring a dual-tone yellow and black finish, new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and LED tail-lights. It also gets faux chrome-finished dual-pipe exhausts. The Volkswagen Polo Plus comes devoid of LED daytime running lights. Also See – VW T-Cross India Launch and Other Details

Inside the cabin, the Volkswagen Polo Plus gets the sporty theme with yellow highlights on the dashboard, centre console and door panels. In terms of features, the Polo Plus gets a touchscreen infotainment system, a sunroof, rear parking camera, ESP, ABS and EBD as standard. The infotainment system is now compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Chinese-spec VW Polo Plus is powered by the 1.5-litre petrol engine. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

In India, Volkswagen Group will launch the updated Polo hatchback later this year. The company is also working on the heavily localised version of the MQB AO IN platform, which will be used to develop the India-spec Skoda Kamiq and the VW T-Cross. This platform will also underpin the next-gen VW Vento and Skoda Rapid.
