2017 Volkswagen Polo GT TDI

Volkswagen Polo and Polo GT TSI facelifts will be launched in the second half of 2019.

We informed you earlier that Volkswagen will launch 3 new cars under its new India Plan 2.0. The company will launch the T-Cross based compact SUV, a mid-sized sedan and the next-gen Polo by 2022. In order to drive sales, VW will give a major makeover to its existing product portfolio. The company has already started working on the updated VW Polo. If latest media report is to be believed, the Polo facelift will go on sale in the second half of 2019.

What’s interesting is that the standard VW Polo will be different in terms of looks and features compared to the GT TSI variant. The outgoing GT TSI comes with minor changes in the form of spoiler, contrasting shade for ORVMs and badging on the C-Pillar, grille and tailgate. In fact, the standard and GT TSI models look largely similar. The GT TSI is powered by a 1.2-litre TSI engine that produces 28bhp more power and offers a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The facelifted version of the GT TSI is likely to receive major changes in the form of a sportier grille, larger alloys, side skirts and LED lightings. Other changes the 2019 VW Polo is likely to include new bumpers, revised headlamps and tail-lights. The cabin of the GT TSI facelift could receive new Tartan seat upholstery, contrasting stitching on the steering wheel cover and highlighted door sills.
