2019 Tata Tiago Facelift Spied For The First Time

Tata Tiago facelift could be launched before the arrival of 45X based hatchback.

Home-grown automaker, Tata Motors has started working on a mid-life facelift of its best-selling hatchback – Tiago. In fact, testing of the model has also been started. A prototype of the 2019 Tata Tiago has been caught testing recently, which shows possible changes on offer. A new media report claims that the Tata Tiago facelift could arrive before the brand’s much-anticipated 45X concept based premium hatchback.

The spotted model was fully camouflaged, but the exposed ORVMs reveal that the model is wrapped in Sunburst Orange colour. The 2019 Tata Tiago is expected to receive subtle design changes like revised front grille and new front and rear bumpers and smoked out headlamps. The hatchback could also receive newly developed alloy wheels. The rear is also expected to feature slightly revised tail-lights.

The cabin images are yet to be revealed. It is expected that the 2019 Tiago could receive a touchscreen infotainment system, which is currently available in the Tiago NRG variant only. No mechanical changes are expected in the new Tiago. It is powered by a 1.2-litre DOHC Revotron 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 83bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. The oil burner is a 1.05-litre 3-cylinder unit that churns out 69bhp at 4,000rpm and 140Nm between 1,800-3,000rpm. Due to the arrival of BSVI emission norms, Tata could make some changes to the engines to make them future ready. The company is likely to go petrol only for the Tiago as the diesel engine cost will significantly increase post April 2020. The hatchback will also receive standard safety features including dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, speed sensing auto door lock, speed alert, seatbelt reminder and reverse parking sensors.
