Japanese carmaker, Suzuki will soon introduce the mid-life facelift of its flagship SUV – Vitara in the global markets. Measuring 4.2 meter in length, the Vitara is currently on sale in several international markets including Australia.

The 2019 model is likely to be called the Suzuki Vitara Series II. The pictures reveal that the new model gets a new front grille and revised bumper. Suzuki is also considering this SUV for Indian market. In fact, the pre-facelift Vitara SUV was spotted a couple of times in India. The spotted model on Indian roads was powered by a 1.6-litre MJD diesel engine that produces 118bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. The company is yet to make an official announcement whether this SUV will make its way to India or not. If launched, this model will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur.

Maruti Suzuki had launched the previous-gen Vitara SUV as the Grand Vitara in India, but later discontinued owing to its low sales. Previous reports suggest that Maruti is working on a 7-seater premium SUV based on the C-platform that also underpins the Vitara Brezza and the global Vitara.
