2019 Suzuki Jimny Revealed; Gets More Power & Better Fuel Efficiency

In Japan, the 2019 Suzuki Jimny carline is available in three variants – XG, XL and XC.

Suzuki has introduced the 2019 Suzuki Jimny and the Jimny Sierra in the Japanese market. Prices of the new Jimny fall in the range of 14,58,000-19,06,200 JPY (Rs 9.06 lakh – Rs 11.85 lakh) and the Jimny Sierra costs between 17,60,400-20,62,800 JPY (Rs 10.94 lakh – Rs 12.82 lakh). The carmaker claims that the small off-roader can “overcome muddy pits” and “manoeuvre through dense woods and massive rocks”.

Design of the new 2019 Suzuki Jimny seems inspired by the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. The SUV carries Suzuki’s signature design elements such as LED headlamps with washers, front grille with vertical openings, clamshell bonnet, drip rail and rear combination lamps gathered at the rear bumper. Read: New Maruti WagonR – 5 Interesting Facts

Interior of the Suzuki’s new off-roader has simple and practical layout. It gets a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and digital driver information display. 2018 Suzuki Jimny Specs

In Japan, the new 2019 Suzuki Jimny has been made available in three variants – XG, XL and XC. All trims are packed with a 0.7-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that’s good enough for 64PS and 96Nm of torque. The Jimny Sierra, on the other hand, derives its power from the naturally aspirated 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol motor churning out a maximum power of 102PS (100bhp) at 6,000rpm and 130Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. Read: Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars in India

Transmission options on offer are a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic unit. It gets part-time 4WD system with low range transfer gear. The top speed of the off-roader stands at 145kmph. The 2019 Suzuki Jimny is 15 percent lighter than its predecessor, thus making it more fuel efficient than before.
