Suzuki claims that the new Jimny has been developed using the feedback from existing Jimny owners. The company further claims that the existing owners rank its off-road abilities and robustness higher than on-road performance. While the ride and handling of the mini SUV has been improved, the SUV is being developed keeping its off-road abilities and hardy nature in mind. The new model sits on the existing ladder frame chassis and features 3-link rigid axle suspension along with part time four-wheel-drive layout. Read – Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars In India

The car’s design seems like a mini Mercedes G-Class, featuring a simple, box-shaped body. The SUV features squared-off wheel arches and retro-styled tail-lights are positioned low on the bumper. The new-generation cabin is now equipped with modern features like a touchscreen infotainment system with connected car applications. Though, the overall design of the dashboard is pretty simple and features easy to use buttons.

Suzuki hasn’t revealed the exact engine details about the vehicle. Previous reports claim that the JDM-spec model will be powered by a 660cc RA06 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 64PS and 95Nm. It is expected that the SUV will also receive Suzuki’s turbocharged 1.0-litre 3-cylinder Boosterjet petrol and the naturally aspirated 1.2-litre engine. Diesel engine is not likely to be offered with the new Jimny SUV.

The new-generation Suzuki Jimny mini off-roader SUV India launch is yet to be confirmed by the automaker. The 5-door model could make its way to India market as the new-generation Gypsy.
