2019 Maruti Wagon R Fully Revealed In Leaked Images

New Maruti Wagon R Spied

The next-generation Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is scheduled to be launched on January 23, 2019

The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has been fully revealed in clear leaked images. The new-generation model is scheduled to be launched on January 23, 2019. It is clear that the new-gen model is completely different to the one on sale in Japan. Though, it retains the tall-boy design.

The new Maruti Wagon’s front fascia is designed in line with the Ignis hatchback, featuring wraparound headlamps curved towards the grille and new distinctive kinks on the far ends. The grille design is simple, sharing resemblance with Ignis, with a large logo positioned on the grille. The bumper is simple featuring angular housings for fog lamps. It seems to be the mid-level variant, which misses out on fog lamps. Also See – Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars In India

On the sides, the new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R looks bigger than the outgoing car. It is expected that the new model will come with additional legroom for the second row and could feature reclining seats. It gets floating roof design and new creases on the fenders and doors. At the back, the new Wagon R gets larger tail-lamps on the C-pillar.

The new Maruti Wagon R will be based on the existing platform, which will be modified for better structural integrity. It will be powered by the existing 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine that produces 67bhp and 90Nm of torque. This engine could be tuned for better refinement. Media reports claim that the company could add the powerful 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine in the top-spec ZXi variant. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.

The new-gen Maruti Suzuki Wagon R will be equipped with several new features. It will receive the Suzuki’s new SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminder and others will come as standard. Upon its launch, the new Wagon R will challenge the likes of Hyundai Santro, Datsun Go and Tata Tiago.
