One can pre-book the new Maruti Ciaz 1.5L diesel variant at token of Rs 11,000.

Maruti Suzuki will soon introduce its newly-developed 1.5L diesel engine in the Ciaz mid-size sedan lineup. According to a media report, certain Maruti Suzuki Nexa dealerships have started taking pre-orders for the new Maruti Ciaz 1.5L diesel variant at token amount of Rs 11,000. The company’s new in-house developed 1.5L diesel engine, named DDiS225, is capable of producing power worth 94bhp (95.30PS) at 4,000rpm against 225Nm of torque at 1,500-2,500rpm. That means, the new oil burner is slightly more powerful and torquier than the 1.3L diesel unit that’s good enough for 90PS and 200Nm of torque.

In terms of fuel economy, Maruti Suzuki’s new 1.5L diesel engine delivers a claimed mileage of 26.82kmpl. Compared to the 1.3L oil burner, the new powertrain is around 1.27kmpl less frugal. Though, it still more fuel economical than most of its rivals. The new Maruti Ciaz 1.5L diesel model will be the company’s first car to get a 6-speed manual gearbox. Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz diesel models come in the price range of Rs 9.19 lakh – Rs 11.02 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). With new 1.5L diesel powertrain, the sedan is likely to be priced between Rs 10.5 lakh – Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). The petrol variants, on the other hand, are available at Rs 8.19 lakh (entry-level) – Rs 10.98 lakh (top-spec).
