Almost a year ahead of the upcoming BSVI regulations, Maruti Suzuki has rolled out the new 2019 Alto BS6. This makes the Alto the country’s first entry-level BS6 car. Besides the new engine, the company has also introduced some new features and design changes on the Alto.

The new Alto is available in a total of three variants, prices of which are mentioned below –

Alto BS6 STD – Rs 2.93 lakh
Alto BS6 LXI – Rs 3.50 lakh
Alto BS6 VXI – Rs 3.71 lakh

“The New Alto is India’s first BSVI compliant entry segment car with a powerful engine and high fuel efficiency of 22.05 km/l. We are confident that the New Alto will be a car that young Indians will be proud to own.”, said Mr. R S Kalsi, Sr Executive Director (Marketing & Sales). Also See – Maruti Baleno BSVI launched

Starting with the new BS6 engine, which is claimed to reduce about 25% Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) in emission. And to achieve this, the company has upgraded both the hardware and software of the exhaust system. The new engine, however, still has the same cubic capacity at 796 and it’s capable of churning out 47bhp and 69Nm

Starting with the exterior changes, the new 2019 Maruti Alto 800 gets a new face with a bigger grille. The new black grille now feels much better merged/connected into headlamp assembly. The car also gets a new bumper with a revised lower grille in honeycomb pattern, thus giving the front of the 2019 Alto a more prominent face. Strangely, the company has dropped the fog lamps from the entire Alto lineup. The side and rear profiles of the car see no changes, except for the ‘Alto’ badge instead of ‘Alto 800’. Just so you know, the Alto 800 still has 12-inch steel wheels. Also See – Maruti Baleno vs Tata Altroz

The changes are visible on the inside as well. It gets a new dual-tone interior and seats, new dashboard and new AC vents. Keeping the new age buyers in mind, the 2019 Maruti Alto also gets a new infotainment system called Smart Play Dock. The Smart Play Dock allows Alto customers to transform their phone into a touch interface, and with the help of bluetooth one can access music, navigation and calls. This is something similar that was available on the old Figo. The keyless entry too is a new feature added to the Alto.

Along with a new BS6 engine and new features, the Alto is now way safer than before as it gets ABS and EBD as standard. Other standard features are reverse parking sensor, driver airbag, speed alert system and seat belt reminder which are part of the upcoming safety norms. Maruti Suzuki claims that the new Alto complies with the upcoming crash test and pedestrian safety norms.
