Clear images of the 2019 Suzuki Jimny Sierra and variant-wise features and specifications have been leaked online via social media channels. The new model is scheduled to make its global debut next month. This 3-door model is based on the ladder-frame chassis and will also go on other markets towards the end of this year or early next year. A 5-door model could also come in the next 1-2 years.
Going by the pictures, it is visible that the new Jimny looks like a mini G-Wagen. At the back, the mini off-roader gets door handle on the left side and tailgate at the right edge. It features a black bumper housing for the tail-lights and a spare-wheel mounted on the tailgate. There is a wiper and washer for the rear windshield. Compared to the regular Jimny, the Jimny Sierra gets additional cladding around the wheel arches, wider bumpers, and fatter tyres. The new Jimny will come in three trim levels – XG, XL and XC. The basic variant gets dual-front airbags, SRS curtain airbags, front seat SRS side airbag, fog lamps, halogen headlamps and manual AC. It rides on 16-inch steel wheels.
On the other hand, the mid-level variant gets additional features like automatic AC, keyless entry, engine start/stop button, electrically retractable ORVMs, and smoked glass. The JDM-spec new Jimny is powered by a 660cc RA06 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 64PS of power at 6,000rpm as against 95Nm of torque at 3,000rpm. For transmission duties, the mini off-roader gets a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic unit. It will also come with 4WD layout. The Suzuki Jimny will come in 9 single tone and 4 dual-tone exterior paint jobs. Single tone colours – Kinetic Yellow, Chiffon Ivory Metallic, Brisk Blue Metallic, Medium Grey, Bluish Black Pearl, Jungle Green, Silky Silver Metallic, Pure White Pearl and Superior White. The dual-tone shade is offered on the top XC grade only. The dual-tone shades include Kinetic Yellow with Black roof, Chiffon Ivory Metallic with Black roof, Brisk Blue Metallic with Black roof and Kinetic Yellow tih Black roof and hood.
