2019 Honda HR-V RS is basically the sportier version of the regular model, which comes with blackened contrast treatment and larger 18-inch wheels

We informed you earlier that Honda is testing the 2019 HR-V facelift for the European markets. Interestingly, the Japanese brand has unveiled the new HR-V facelift along with sportier RS version for the Malaysian markets. Bookings for the car have also been commenced, while launch could take place in August or September this year. In Europe, the updated HR-V is expected to be launched towards the end of this year.

In terms of design changes, the 2019 Honda HR-V gets a new front fascia with revised grille, featuring thick chrome, new full LED headlamps, revised bumper and LED fog lamps. At the back, the SUV gets new horizontal chrome strip on the tailgate. Talking about 2019 Honda HR-V RS, this top-end model is basically the sportier avatar of the regular model. It comes with blackened contrast elements such as dark chrome door handles, black chrome license garnish and gloss black side sills and fog lamp garnish. This model rides on dual-tone 18-inch five-spoke alloys. It also gets the tube-type LED tail-lights. The new HR-V also gets a new Passion Red paint job, which suits well with the darkened treatment. The cabin comes with all-black scheme. Interior remains largely unchanged, except for the new upholstery. The reversing camera along with touchscreen infotainment system is now standard across the line-up. The HR-V facelift gets six airbags, emergency stop signal, vehicle stability assist and hill start assist as safety features. The RS variant also gets Honda LaneWatch blind spot. The Malaysian-spec Honda HR-V is powered by a 1.8-litre SOHC i-VTEC petrol engine that churns out 142PS of power and 172Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox with paddle shifters for quick shifts. The company is also expected to offer hybrid version of the HR-V in near future.

Honda is also considering the HR-V SUV for the Indian market. This model will come as a 5-seater premium model to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass. However, the confirm launch details are yet to be revealed by the automaker. Previous media reports claim that Honda is planning two new SUVs based on the new Amaze platform. One of these two models is likely to share design cues from HR-V.
