The German luxury carmaker today introduced the second-generation BMW X4 SUV in the Indian market. The SUV carline comes in three trims – xDrive20d M Sport X diesel, xDrive 30d M Sport X diesel and xDrive 30i Sport X petrol – priced at Rs 60.6 lakh, Rs 65.9 lakh and Rs 63.5 lakh respectively. The 2019 BMW X4 is the first of 12 new models which are scheduled to launch this year. The SUV has been locally assembled at the company’s Chennai-based plant. In India, it will continue to take on the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe.
Compared to the previous model, the new 2019 BMW X4 is longer (81mm), wider (37mm) and lighter (50kg). In fact, its wheelbase has also been stretched by 54mm. The front fascia of the SUV looks more like the X3. Though, it gets unique roofline and styling bits. The M Sport X design package includes larger 19-inch alloys, side skirts, dual exhaust, a rear diffuser element and a roof mounted spoiler.
Interior has also been upgraded with a multifunction 10.25-inch instrument display, BMW Head-Up display, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon Surround Sound system, BMW gesture control, three zone auto AC with display, rear view camera, a panoramic sunroof, adaptive suspension and electric tailgate. With respect to safety, the 2019 BMW X4 gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, attentiveness assist, stability control and more. Engine setup of the 2019 BMW X4 includes a 2.0L, 4-cylinder petrol, a 2.0L, 4-cylinder diesel and a 3.0L, 6-cylinder diesel unit. While the gasoline motor makes 252bhp with 350Nm of torque, the 2.0L and 3.0L diesel mills generate 190bhp with 400Nm and 195bhp with 620Nm respectively. All variants get a 8-speed automatic transmission.
