Likely to be launched in the international markets this year, the new Audi Q3 premium SUV will be based on Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform

German premium carmaker, Audi is all set to introduce the second-generation Audi Q3 SUV. The premium compact SUV has been completely revealed in new spy images. The pictures reveal that the SUV design won’t see revolutionary changes, instead receiving more prominent components.

At the front, the new Audi Q3 features a new evolutionary SUV design language which we have already seen on the new Q8. The rear gets separate lighting clusters, which seems identical to the one used in the all-new Audi A1 supermini. The current Q3 is the oldest model in the Audi range, so big changes are expected both inside and outside. It will be based on an all-new platform and will get all-new cabin. New Audi Q3 Images

It is expected that the new Audi Q3 compact SUV will be based on the MQB platform, which also underpins the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen T-ROC and the Audi TT. The new platform will help Audi to achieve less weight and more space along with higher fuel efficiency. The new model will be 60mm longer and 50mm wider than the current car. The cabin of the new Q3 seems identical to the one offered in the new Audi A1. The top-spec model could feature a new dual-touchscreen setup. The conventional instrument cluster will be replaced by Audi’s Virtual Cockpit display.

The new MQB platform will allow Audi Q3 to receive a range of new engines. Media reports claim that the SUV could also receive an all-electric powertrain. It is likely to use electric system from the updated VW e-Golf. The company will also launch the performance oriented Audi Q3 RS, which is likely to use Audi’s new five-cylinder turbo engine that produces 394bhp.
