2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet facelift will have its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the new 2018 S-Class Cabriolet and Coupe will have their world premiere at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. This International Motor Show is scheduled to be held from 14th to 24th September in Germany. While the unveiling event is a few weeks away, the German luxury car manufacturer has dropped yet another teaser of the new 2018 Mercedes S Class Cabriolet facelift.

The latest teaser video reveals the closer detailing of the car’s new tail lamps benefited, which are boosted with OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology. All the 33 OLEDs are arranged in three rows with elements overlapping each other. Mercedes says that each element can be controlled individually. The new 2018 Mercedes S Class Cabriolet has conventional amber turn indicators featuring the chrome strip above it. However, it’s still unclear whether the OLED taillamps will be standard across the carline or will come as an optional feature. The facelifted model also receives a diamond pattern grille at the front fascia. The front and rear bumpers have also been slightly revised. Inside, the updated S-Class Cabriolet will feature a digital dash and a new touchpad surface instead of controller wheel. The car will also see Mercedes’ new semi autonomous technology. Other key features will include an active steering system, a stereoscopic camera, a long-range radar camera, active brake assist with cross-traffic function, etc.

The Mercedes S Class Cabriolet facelift is ready to make its public debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show next month. While the global launch of the car will happen sometime next year, it might hit Indian shores in 2018 or 2019. Mercedes-Benz offers the S-Class Cabriolet in a single ‘S 500’ variant priced at 2.27 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Loaded with high-tech features and improved styling, the facelited model could be slightly more expensive than the existing one. Globally, the entry-level variant of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet could be packed with the twin turbo, 3.0-litre V8 engine replacing the existing 4.7-litre unit. The new V8 turbocharged motor churns out 463bhp of power. The same powertrain will generate 603bhp on the S63 model.

In India, the current model of the car comes fitted with a 4.7-litre V Type petrol engine that’s good for 448.8bhp and 700Nm of torque. This mill is paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and accelerates 0-100kmph in 4.6 seconds. The new S Class Cabriolet is likely to continue to derive its power from the same engine.
