American SUV maker, Jeep had unveiled the 2018 Wrangler at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. The company will launch this new model in India in the next few months. In fact, 2018 Jeep Wrangler 2-door and 4-door models have already been imported into India. Going by the latest development, the classic 2-door Wrangler model could go on sale in the Indian market.
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler retains the original rugged design language, but it now looks more premium and rugged. The front bumper of the SUV is slightly bigger, and looks bolder than before. The signature vertically slatted grille and round headlamps are carried over from the current model; however, the headlamps now get projector units and LED DRLs. The side windows are now mounted slightly higher and it also has foldable windshield. Other changes include pronounced wheel arches, new black door handles, ORVM and roof. The company will offer multiple windshield, door and top combinations on the SUV. Read – 2019 Jeep Renegade facelift revealed
The cabin also retains the traditional design, but with modern comfort and convenience features. The dashboard design is simple, featuring round air-vents. It now gets a configurable 7-inch TFT LED driver information display, passive keyless entry, push-button start, dual-zone climate control, etc. For entertainment and connectivity, the SUV gets Uconnect 4C NAV 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is being offered with two petrol engines – 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and 3.6-litre naturally aspirated. The smaller capacity engine produces 270bhp and 400Nm of torque. It also comes with a mild-hybrid system called ‘eTorque’ that improves the overall efficiency and performance. This engine is paired to a newly developed 8-speed automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the naturally aspirated engine produces 285bhp and 352Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a new 8-speed automatic.
The diesel version is available with 2 engine options – 2.2-litre 4-cylinder turbo and 3.0-litre V6 Turbo. While the former is good for 197bhp and 450Nm, the 3.0L unit produces 240bhp and 570Nm of torque.
