The long-awaited Hyundai Santro tall-boy hatch will finally go on sale in India tomorrow. Interested buyers can pre-book this hatchback online by paying an initial amount of Rs 11,000. Hyundai has already started dispatching the new model to dealerships for customer previews. The small car will take on the likes of Tata Tiago, Maruti Celerio, Maruti WagonR and the Renault Kwid 1.0L.

It will be offered in six exterior paint jobs – Star Dust, Marina Blue, Fiery Red, Typhoon Silver, Polar White, Imperial Beige and Diana Green. It is based on the i10 platform, which is compatible and safer with the upcoming crash test norms. The new Hyundai Santro will be powered by a 1.1-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that is capable of producing a maximum power output of 68bhp and a peak torque of 99Nm. The petrol version is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 20.3kmpl. The factory fitted CNG model offers 57bhp and 77Nm of torque, and returns 30.5km/kg. New Hyundai Santro Blue

The new Hyundai Santro will be equipped with several segment leading features. The base model will come with driver-side airbag, ABS with EBD, reverse camera and seat-belt reminder as standard. Rest of the variants will get dual-front airbags. The top-spec model will also get rear parking camera. It will get a large 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The touchscreen will also serve as a display for rear camera. Other features include automatic climate control, rear AC vents, multi-functional steering wheel and an AMT gearbox with electric actuators.
