New Hyundai Creta 2018 facelift went on sale in India in May, 2018. In just few weeks of its arrival, the compact SUV received over 14,000 bookings and 70,000 enquiries showing the kind of popularity it’s enjoying among buyers. The SUV carline comes in a total of 12 variants spread across the three trims – E, E+ and SX. Prices of the petrol models range between Rs 9.44 lakh to Rs 13.60 lakh, and the diesel variants are available at a starting price of Rs 10.00 lakh that go up to Rs 15.04 lakh (all, ex-showroom Delhi).

For 2018 model year, the new Hyundai Creta facelift receives subtle design and styling upgrades along with a better equipped interior. The carmaker also introduced a new orange paint scheme with a dual-tone option on the SUV. Interestingly, the SX+ trim has been scrapped from the carline, and the SX (O) is the new top-spec trim across the petrol and diesel engines. Features such as an electric sunroof, ventilated seats and new alloys are reserved for the range-topping model. Sporting minor design and feature updates, the 2018 Hyundai Creta facelift looks more up-market than its predecessor. While the major change comes in the form of the electric sunroof (only on the top trim), the engine setup remains unchanged. The 1.4L diesel engine is available only on the E+ and S trims. The carmaker has dropped the SX+ trim from the carline. Prices of the new Hyundai Creta 2018 facelift start from Rs 9.44 lakh and go up to Rs 15.04 lakh for the top-spec model. The new prices are surely up than the old ones. The entry-level petrol version of the 2018 Creta is around Rs 15,000 more expensive than the previous model and the top-spec SX (O) petrol model gets pricier by Rs 57,000. Price of the base diesel model remains unchanged. Though, the high-end diesel SX (O) trim is now Rs 44,000 costlier than the old model. Despite the minor price hike, the compact SUV has been doing well for the South Korean carmaker. Visually, the new Hyundai Creta 2018 facelift appears more refreshing and sportier than the predecessor. However, it hasn’t witnessed comprehensive updates and retained most of its design bits. Based on Hyundai’s new fluidic design philosophy, the 2018 Hyundai Creta features a new cascading grille with a chrome bezel, new bi-functional projector headlamps, new LED daytime running lights (DRLs), new horizontal LED fog lamp assemblies and positioning lamp at the front end. One of the prominent features in the top-spec model is the addition of smart electric sunroof (first-in-segment). Unlike the front fascia, the side profile of the car remains largely identical to the old model. Though, it comes with two different alloy wheels options. All variants of the new Hyundai Creta 2018 facelift have been assembled with 16-inch alloy wheels and 205/65 tyres as standard, while the newly-designed dual-tone 17-inch alloys with 215/60 section tyres are exclusively offered on the range-topping model. Hyundai is offering two new paint schemes on the new Creta facelift – Marina Blue and Passion Orange along with new dual-tone Passion Orange and Phantom Black shade. Dimensionally, the new Hyundai Creta 2018 remains unchanged and carries over the same proportions from the old model. The overall length, width and height of the new Creta facelift measures 4,270mm, 1,780mm and 1,630mm respectively. The SUV sits on a wheelbase of 2,590mmm and stands on a ground clearance of 183mm. Similar to the previous model, the facelifted version offers a boot space of 400-litres, which is good enough to accommodate 4-5 suitcases.

While the major updates are limited to the exterior, the cabin receives subtle changes. The 2018 Hyundai Creta facelift comes with a host of new comfort goodies and safety provisions. Interior design and styling is inspired by the new Verna sedan and the new Elite i20 hatchback. The SUV features a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink connectivity along with the iBlue Audio Control App. The 2018 Hyundai Creta also gets Arkamys Sound Mood, which offers various sound enhancement options.

The list of standard features includes a sliding front armrest, speed sensing auto door lock, height adjustable driver’s seat. New Hyundai Creta 2018 Safety

The updated version of the SUV gets dual front airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) as standard safety fitments. The top-spec SX (O) trim is exclusively offered with the six airbag protection along with electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management control (VSM), hill start assist and electro chromic mirror (ECM). Other safety features include parking assist (rear parking sensors, rear camera with steering adaptive and parking guidelines display), day/night inside rear view mirror, child seat anchor (ISOFIX), lane change indicator and flash adjustment, rear defogger with timer and immobilizer.

As mentioned above, no mechanical changes have been made to the SUV. The 2018 Hyundai Creta continues to come with the same three powertrain options (one petrol and two diesel units). Power for the petrol model comes from the 1.6-litre dual VTVT that makes a top power of 121bhp and a peak torque of 151Nm. Delivering power to the front wheels is the same 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.

On the other hand, the diesel range includes the 1.4-litre CRDi unit and the 1.6-litre U2 CRDi VGT. The smaller capacity motor produces a maximum power output of 89bhp and 220Nm of torque, and the bigger capacity unit is good enough for 126bhp and 259Nm of torque. As mentioned above, the engine setup of the 2018 Hyundai Creta remains unchanged. Therefore, it is as fuel economical as the previous model. That said, the petrol version of the SUV returns a claimed mileage of 15.29kmpl. While the mileage figure of the 1.4-litre diesel-packed variant stands at 21.38kmpl, the bigger capacity 1.6-litre oil burner offers fuel economy of 19.67kmpl with the manual gearbox and 17.01kmpl with the automatic unit.
