2018 Honda CB Hornet 160R ABS will use the same 62.7cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has silently launched the new CB Hornet 160R at Rs 84,675 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Available in four variants – Standard, CBS, ABS and ABS Deluxe, the 2018 Honda CB Hornet 160R comes with the full LED headlamp (segment-first) and single-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system). The bike’s updated model also features revised instrument cluster and new body graphics along with a new paint scheme.
The 2018 Honda CB Hornet will continue to challenge the TVS Apache RTR 160, Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and Yamaha FZ-S. Just so you know, the new Hornet was first previewed at the 2018 Auto Expo along with all-new X Blade 160cc motorcycle, new CBR250R, Activa 5G and PCX Electric Scooter.

As mentioned above, the bike’s new model witnessed minor updates including full LED headlamp, new body graphics and single-channel ABS. These changes have made the 2018 CB Hornet 160R around Rs 2,316 – Rs 5,852 more expensive than the previous model. The 2018 model lineup is spread across four variants – Standard, CBS, ABS Standard and ABS Deluxe – priced at Rs 84,675, Rs 89,175, Rs 90,175 and Rs 92,675 respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi). On the other hand, the old model was offered in two variants – 160R Standard and 160R CBS – priced at Rs 82359 and Rs 86823 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. Mechanically, the new Honda CB Hornet 160R remains unchanged. The bike continues to derive its power from the 162.71cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine benefited with HET (Honda Eco Technology). Composed of lightweight materials, the HET system enhances engine’s power and fuel efficiency. It also reduces friction in engine components. This motor is capable to deliver a maximum power output of 14.9bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 14.5Nm at 6,500rpm. Transmission duties are performed by a 5-speed gearbox.
Honda claims that the bike can offer a top speed of 110kmph. Suspension mechanism of the bike consists of the same telescopic front and monoshock rear unit. The 2018 CB Hornet 160 sources its stopping power from the 276mm petal disc front and 130mm drum/220mm petal disc (CBS) rear brakes. Built on diamond frame, the 2018 CB Hornet gets new body graphics. It’s the first bike in its segment to feature full LED headlamp. The instrument cluster has also been revised. The front and rear tyres’ size of the bike stand at 100/80-17 and 140/70-17 respectively. It has a wheelbase of 1,346mm and a ground clearance of 164mm. The overall length, width and height of the Hornet measure 2,041mm, 783mm and 1,067mm respectively. The 2018 Honda CB Hornet 160R is available in five colour options, namely, the new Dazzle Yellow Metallic along with Striking Green, Mars Orange, Athletic Blue Metallic and Sports Red.
